THE YOUNG READERS’ & WRITERS’ WORKSHOP

Classes available for all ages

Ms. Davis, a CDA-trained Early Literacy Leadership Academy (ELLA) graduate with 12 years of experience in early childhood education, leads our workshop classes with energy and enthusiasm! Her use of the project approach supports our students' creativity and artistic intuition.

What to Expect

During our Young Readers’ & Writers’ Workshop, students can explore their creativity while expanding executive functioning and foundational reading skills in a small group setting.

Activities include:

  • Guided Reading

  • Story Dictation, Storytelling, and Story Acting

  • Quality Children’s Literature Read A-Louds

  • Reasoning and Critical Thinking Games

Plus so much more!

A Project Approach to Learning and Meaningful Play

Using a project approach provides our workshop participants with opportunities to produce Podcasts, curate cook books, illustrate comic books, write story anthologies, and more!

Their imagination is the only limit!

Morning and afternoon classes are available online and in-person (in-home)

WORKSHOP CLASSES

Our YR&W Workshop helps build and expand executive functioning, social/emotional, and critical thinking skills.

  • On the first day of class, workshop participants choose a project topic and medium. Students may choose an independent or group project to workshop.

  • Throughout the workshop, we support students as they actualize their creative thoughts and ideas.

  • At the end of the week, students present their work to YR&W Workshop participants and guests.
